Once again journalists are mixing up layers in the protocol stack
In an article in Aftonbladet it is described that the email service of the Incumbent Telia has crashed. This of course happens anyone that provide email services.
The trouble I have is that the article then goes on and ask what people think about their Internet Service Provider, and ask whether people think their Internet Access works well.
Yes, many people do buy email from the same provider that provides the Internet Access, but it is about time journalists do understand the difference, and stop mixing up things like this. How do they think normal people will be able to buy the best services from the best provider otherwise? One large difference from the “default” bundled email one can get from the Internet Service Provider is normally that one get a domain name that belongs to the ISP. This implies one have to change email address when/if one move email from for example Telia.
Now people might think I just try to make a point because I am part of Frobbit AB that sell hosting of email and web, but no, that is not why I point this out. I have many friends I thought knew better than having an email address that belongs to their provider. They do. I have pointed it out to them. They still do not change (or at least buy the extra service from the ISP that make it possible to use a personalized domain name).
And then I ask myself why Internet is not working better than what it is?
