Ulrica Messing is leaving the politics
The former IT minister Ulrica Messing today announced that she is leaving the politics. It is sad for Sweden as Ulrica is one of the most ambitious politicians I have ever met. Never did a paper pass her desk without having she reading it.
I had the honor to report to her as a member of the Swedish Government IT Policy and Strategy Group 2003-2006. That work was fun, and lead to part from the IT-Bill (in Swedish but summary in English) two reports: The overall report from the strategy group and The report from the working group on broadband, a group I was chair of. Some of the work by the group of broadband is picked up by the new government lead by IT-Minister Åsa Torstensson. Also a very ambitious person by the way.
Ulrica gives as a reason that she want to take care of her family. She has a new partner in Torsten. Head of a chain of companies with base in the glass country in south of Sweden. Very nice person and I could see already the first time I met him and Ulrica that they will have fun together. So I absolutely understand her decision.
I wish Ulrica (and Torsten) all luck, and hope I have the ability and luck to meet you two at more occasions in the future.
