Oscar writes (again) a very good story on copyright

Oscar Schwarz writes again a very good text about copyright, filesharing, legislation, what the government should protect etc. In Swedish unfortunately, so the rest of you have to learn Swedish I am afraid.

The reason why he bring this up again is that the secretary of the Swedish Academy (and others) in an Article in Expressen expresses himself in a way that surprises not only Oscar, but also myself and many others. The response from members of the Swedish Parliament did come quite quick.

Anyway, people in Sweden that are interested in these discussions should read what Oscar wrote. He very clearly point out the surprise is not that Horace Engdahl and others are against file sharing etc, but that they do not understand that we with the ability to digitize information, and distribute information for very close to zero cost, move into a new world. A world where we need some new ideas on how to manage rights to this digitized information. If only these people could demonstrate they have understood the new economy, then we would have a much more fruitful discussion.

As it is now, what is written by Horace and others are just silly statements by people that want to wake up one day and hope that the Internet and ability to digitize information was just a bad dream that is gone.
