Political decisions is needed regarding "mobile TV"
IDG.se write that they want the politicians to decide what standard to use for mobile TV. That was one of the most weird things I have heard in a long time. Standards live on their own on the market, and different competing standards to compete with each other. Why should politicians decide what the market can not agree on? Terracom even claim Sweden will end up being behind in the development if we do not allow TV in the cellphone. What stops it? The frequency allocation, that cellphone providers are not allowed to show moving images? I do not think so. But if that is true, then they should talk about the regulator, and not the politicians.
No, what is behind this is the fact there are competing standards. An extension to CDMA or a special version of DVB. And Terracom believe politicians should decide which one of the standards is the best.
