Robert Mondavi has passed away

As one can read in Wine Spectator Robert Mondavi passed away on May 16 at age of 94. Being one of the most well known and influental wine makers in California, he run Mondavi winery from time of establishment in 1966 until 2004 when it was sold.

I have like many others a long relationship with Mondavi Wines. Often one of the first really typical californian cabernet one drink is a Mondavi. The first wine tour I did in Napa was at Mondavi. Of course, after that I have found other, specifically smaller, wineries. But Mondavi still has a style that people in California like, and because of that I find them interesting.

Of course I have never met him in person, I have just been a customer of Mondavi wineries, but still, I do understand it was a person that had great impact on wine production in the Napa and Sonoma valleys.
