0,5 billion SEK to IT in budget, but what year?
Updated: So I was completely confused by the website of the Swedish Government. And this I now understand is for the year 2008. It is correct that the budget is released Sep 22 (tomorrow) and we’ll see what it includes.
As I think what is published should stay published, I will not delete this post, although it shows I should not post before coffe, specifically not with 9 hour jetlag in my body.
Twice a year (April and September), the government hand over a budget to the parliament. The bill is handed over this year (fall 2008) on Sep 22, but some things are leaking. I ask for example whether this page on the government website should be visible already today on Sep 21?
It discloses that the government will put 500MSEK (approximately €50M) on IT. This while there are some investigations that for example suggest Sweden should put order of 3BillionSEK on just infrastructure so that the quality of broadband (or in many cases broadband at all) can be increased.
As it is today, really tiny things can disturb Internet in Sweden, and if Sweden want to keep the 2nd place in broadband measurements (or 3rd, or 7th, all depending who you ask), this 500MSEK is not the way to go.
