Jon Postel

Today it is 10 years since Jon Postel passed away. Far too early. I miss him. A good friend. A stable character to lean against when the wind was blowing. Someone to trust.

I remember the ceremony in Los Angeles over Jon after he passed away. Ira Magaziner explained his thoughts when inviting Jon for lunch in the White House and Old Congress Building complex. Everyone was in a dark suit, except Jon that had his normal comfortable clothes and sandals. In the future, Ira said, only one of them will be remembered, and that is the man in sandals. Not an exact quote, but, so true.

Jon, you are missed!
