IPv6 is taking off?

Many people have commented on both my presentation at Internetdagarna and the article in Computer Sweden that was a followup. The latter got comments for example by CS itself.

At the IETF in Minneapolis, there is a lot of talk about IPv6. All over the place. In most working groups and most meetings. In fact, I do not think I have been in a meeting so far that does not include some IPv6 discussions.

In many countries in the world, I see similar movement. For example in Vietnam, where Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Le Nam Thang said recently that Vietnam was ready to use IPv6.

The overall question is though as always, why? The simple answer, that for me though is important enough to make me work hard to get IPv6 to all my services, is that having a public IP address is essential for survival of the Internet. And I do not want to risk sitting one day and neither have a public IPv4, nor a public IPv6 address.

A lot of work, but I rather do it now than later when there is panic.
