RIPE meeting -- with not many surprises

The 58th RIPE meeting took place in Amsterdam as usual. Or, was it usual? It was a 20th year anniversary of the RIPE meeting, and they had invited all participants at the first meeting to Amsterdam. I like that. We who has worked with Internet for a while obviously start to get old.

What else was special was the 2nd meeting of the cooperation working group. I was on stage (for some reason I do not understand) together with my friend Kurtis. Or rather, I do know why. It was because the 2nd person on stage (part from Kurtis) was not on stage, but on the phone. So I was sort of filling up some space. That said, it did give me the ability to say what I wanted about IPv6. The normal stuff, that governments via the procurement process has a tool they should use more. That is, I think, one of the more effective ways of participating in any public private partnership.

Part from this meeting, the week was completely trashed with side meetings that are explained on other postings on this blog. Sometimes the highest value of meetings are not the meetings themselves (although I would have liked to see some sessions I missed) but the people that go there.

RIPE meetings are important!
